1. Keyboard navigation
Every function on this website can be reached using a keyboard alone, without a mouse.
| Action | Keyboard shortcut |
|---|---|
| Move to the next interactive element, such as a link, button or form field | Tab |
| Move to the previous interactive element | Shift + Tab |
| Activate a button or follow a link | Enter or Space |
| Tick or untick a checkbox, such as the acknowledgement in the opening dialog | Space or Enter |
| Move through menus, dropdown lists and directional controls | Arrow keys |
| Scroll a table or card strip sideways once it has focus | ← and → |
| Close a dialog, popup or the full-screen menu | Esc |
| Jump straight to the main content, skipping the header and menu | Press Tab once from the top of the page, then Enter |
| Return to the top of a long page | Home |
A visible outline appears around whichever element currently has focus: a white band with a dark navy ring around it, so that it stands out over plain backgrounds, dark panels and photographs alike. A focusable region, such as a scrollable table, is tinted as well as outlined.
Skip to main content is the first thing you reach on every page. Where a section of this site moves on its own, such as the scrolling credentials band or the company timeline, it has its own pause button beside it, and your choice is remembered as you move between pages.
2. Browser zoom and text scaling
You can make content larger or smaller using your browser zoom. This website is built to support zoom up to 400 per cent without losing content or breaking the layout, and pinned items such as the header step aside at high zoom rather than covering the text.
| Action | Windows and Linux | macOS |
|---|---|---|
| Zoom in | Ctrl + + | Command + + |
| Zoom out | Ctrl + - | Command + - |
| Reset to the default size | Ctrl + 0 | Command + 0 |
You can also change your browser default text size in its settings, usually under Appearance, or Fonts and Encoding, in your browser preferences. If you apply your own text spacing, line height or letter spacing, the layout is built to accommodate it.
3. Screen reader support
This website is built to work with commonly used screen readers. Use the latest version with a modern browser for the best experience.
| Screen reader | Recommended browser | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| NVDA, NonVisual Desktop Access | Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox | Windows |
| JAWS, Job Access With Speech | Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge | Windows |
| VoiceOver | Safari | macOS and iOS |
| TalkBack | Google Chrome | Android |
Headings, lists, tables and landmarks are marked up so you can jump between them with your screen reader shortcuts. The charts in our insight articles carry a written description of what the chart shows, not only its axis labels, and the page title is announced when you move from one page to another.
4. Browser accessibility features
Modern browsers and devices include features that can make any website easier to use:
| Feature | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Zoom in and out | Ctrl with plus or minus on Windows and Linux; Command with plus or minus on macOS |
| Reader mode, or reading view | Available in Edge, Firefox and Safari. Removes clutter and improves readability |
| High contrast mode | Windows: Settings, then Accessibility, then Contrast themes |
| Larger text and display scaling | Device settings, then Accessibility, then Display or Text size |
| Reduced motion | Device settings, then Accessibility, then Motion. This website honours it: entrance animations and smooth scrolling are switched off, and the content is shown straight away |
| Dark mode | Browser or device Appearance settings |

You can report:

- Missing or unclear labels for controls
- Low colour contrast or readability concerns
- Focus visibility issues
- Problems accessing content on a phone or tablet
- Difficulty using tables, forms or interactive elements

When reporting, it helps to include:
